Agent Perry the Platypus

First, I have to admit I had no idea who Perry the Platypus was until about 4 days ago. I guess I'm pretty much out of the cartoon loop.

Earlier in the week, I got a message that a friend's little girl, Lizzy was in the hospital. When I spoke with her dad, he joked that cookies might cure all her ills. I told him to tell Lizzy that she could pick whatever shape or character and I'd make it for her. About 2 seconds later, I started to panic thinking that she might pick a shape or character completely impossible to replicate. When she said Perry the Platypus, I googled him and breathed a small sigh of relief. I knew Perry wouldn't be super easy to decorate, but that he'd probably be doable.

If you're like me and clueless about Perry the Platypus, he's from the cartoon Phineas and Ferb. Here's some more Perry trivia...

According to Wikipedia ("where anyone can write anything about anyone, what can be more accurate?"-Michael Scott from NBC television show The Office), Perry is part domesticated pet platypus of the Flynn-Fletcher family and part secret agent for an all-animal espionage squad. Apparently he's pretty popular.

Lizzy, I hope you enjoy the cookies and more importantly I wish you a speedy recovery!

A Perry the Platypus Pyramid

One of the first images I saw when researching Perry was this bright blue t-shirt with Perry's face on it. These cookies were inspired by the shirt.

Click your heels three times...

This is my second attempt at the Wizard of Oz themed cookies. I added a lot more sparkles to the ruby slippers. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the finished product.

It's in the mail

Okay I lied. You shouldn't be waiting for a card from me. I only bought one Valentine's Day card this year and hand delievered that one. Yes, I'm a Valentine's slacker. I guess there's always next year. At least I made cookies, right?

Meet Catherine

My sweet cousin Catherine turned Sweet Sixteen last week. About a month ago Judy, her grandma (who is the sister of my grandma) called to order some cookies for Catherine's birthday. Apparently Catherine had specifically requested "Heather cookies" for her birthday.

Naturally, I was honored that she wanted my cookies and I wanted to make something a little more special than the typical birthday cookies. I thought car and road sign cookies might be appropriate for someone that's been itching to drive for the last year (or two or three). In fact the morning of her birthday, she and her dad were at the DMV so she could take her Learner's Permit test. She passed!

A lot of my inspiration is from the cutout cookie ladies on Flickr, including Cookie Crazie, Sweets n Such, and Polka Dot Zebra. Ladies, your cookies are fantastic.

This is from her dad's iPhone and sadly the picture quality isn't the greatest.
I promise I didn't use dull icing colors. However Catherine is a cutie as always.

See I promised the colors were better.

Looks like this driver wasn't paying attention to the road sign. ;-)

Come On!

Well it's the start of the second half of the Super Bowl. My team is down by 11, but I have faith they can come back. Especially after that "amazing" halftime show, it has to get better. I'm not quite sure how to describe that show. Anyway enough about that terribe opps I mean interesting show.

Here's to the Steelers! Come on guys, you can do it!

Oh and a special thank you to Holly in VA for ordering cookies for the game. I hope you and your guy enjoyed them.

Happy Birthday to You!

One of the most special people in my life turned a year older this week.

Gram, I can't wait to see you when get back from Fla.
I'll try not to be too jealous of you enjoying all that sunny weather.

My husband deserves all the props for the cookie staging. A few days ago, he looked at Haniela's cookie blog, which is in my blog list. He was sincerely impressed and inspired to stage my cookies instead of just taking pictures of them.

If you haven't seen Haniela's blog, please check it out.
I guarentee you won't be disappointed!
